Meet: Joel Gourdin

As co-host of WCG Ultimate Gamer on SyFy, Joel Gourdin is the show?s resident videogame expert and competitive-gaming guru. Joel first covered tech and videogames for SpikeTV as a web-host for their E3 coverage before working as a freelance reporter on the G4 network. With appearances on G4 shows "Attack of the Show" and "XPlay", Joel covered eclectic events of interest around the U.S., working in the field as the viewer?s guide to gaming, conventions, concerts and film sets.

He has since branched out into the field of entertainment coverage, working as a correspondent for TV Guide Network, where he covers the red carpet for film premieres as well as for major award shows such as the Emmys, Grammys and Academy Awards. Joel has also worked for the Studio 3 Partners venture EpixHD Channel and Fremantle Media, with whom he recently worked on a trivia game-show pilot.

Joel is also an accomplished actor, graduating with a degree in theatre from Northwestern University. His most recent acting projects are a pilot entitled "The Guy Chronicles" and a leading role in the independent film "Someplace In Between", but he never seems to be able to tear himself away from the world of videogames; as a voiceover artist, his voice has been heard in the promotional campaigns for the games X-Men Legends and EA?s Dead Space.

At the Entertainment Weekly and Syfy Comic Con party, GamingAhead got a red-carpet interview with Hannah Simone and Joel Gourdin about the second season of "WCG Ultimate Gamer" on Syfy.
